VanGolf Community Guidelines
VanGolf Community is for travellers sharing useful tips, golf-course notes, stay recommendations and road-trip discussion.
These Guidelines sit alongside our Terms of Use.
Before posting or uploading content, you must agree to these Guidelines and our Terms of Use.
Be useful and respectful
Please:
- share practical and honest tips about golf, stays and travel;
- disagree without personal attacks;
- keep discussions reasonably related to VanGolf’s purpose; and
- respect other people’s privacy.
Not allowed
Do not post, upload, link to or promote content that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates another person;
- promotes hatred or unlawful discrimination based on protected characteristics;
- contains sexually explicit content, pornography or sexual solicitation;
- contains, promotes or facilitates child sexual abuse or exploitation material of any kind;
- threatens, encourages or facilitates violence, serious physical harm, dangerous unlawful activity, terrorism or violent extremism;
- encourages, promotes or provides instructions for suicide, self-harm or other serious physical harm;
- promotes scams, phishing, fraud or other deceptive schemes;
- impersonates another person, golf club, business or organisation;
- contains spam, irrelevant advertising or repeated unsolicited promotion;
- publishes another person’s private, confidential or personal information without appropriate permission;
- infringes another person’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other legal rights;
- contains malware, malicious links or attempts to compromise VanGolf or another user’s device or account;
- provides hacking or security-abuse instructions intended to harm another person, service or system; or
- otherwise breaches our Terms of Use.
Child safety
VanGolf has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation material or behaviour.
We may:
- immediately remove or restrict access to such material;
- suspend or permanently delete accounts involved;
- preserve relevant information where required by law; and
- report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation to relevant authorities where required.
Reporting and blocking
In the VanGolf app, you can:
- report content that appears to breach these Guidelines;
- report another user; and
- block another user using VanGolf’s blocking tools.
VanGolf reviews reports and may take action where appropriate.
Actions may include:
- removing content;
- warning users;
- restricting Community features;
- temporarily suspending accounts; or
- permanently deleting accounts.
If something needs attention outside the app, contact info@vangolf.app.
If there is an immediate risk of harm or an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on VanGolf reporting tools.
Moderation
VanGolf may review and moderate Community content to help enforce these Guidelines and our Terms of Use.
We may act on content or accounts even where no user report has been made.
Where appropriate, moderation action may include:
- content removal;
- reduced visibility or restricted access;
- temporary restrictions;
- temporary account suspension;
- permanent account termination; or
- referral of serious or potentially unlawful conduct to relevant authorities.
We may use automated tools, manual review or a combination of both to help identify spam, harmful content or other breaches.
Moderation decisions may take into account the nature of the content, context, severity, previous behaviour and risk to other users.
Your responsibilities
When using Community:
- only post content you own or have permission to share;
- do not publish personal, confidential or sensitive information you would not want made public;
- do not share another person’s private information without appropriate permission;
- remember that public Community content may be visible to other VanGolf users; and
- follow applicable laws as well as these Guidelines and our Terms of Use.
You are responsible for the content you choose to submit.
Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines as VanGolf Community develops, our moderation practices change, or legal and app-store requirements change.
When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page.
If a material change significantly affects how Community operates, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
